Our Story

Serving women and children since 1982

The Yellowhead Emergency Shelter For Women Society was established in 1982 in response to the growing need for a safe haven for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Hinton and the surrounding Yellowhead region.

What began as a grassroots effort by concerned community members has grown into a vital organization that has helped thousands of families find safety, healing, and hope over the past four decades.

Today, we continue to provide emergency shelter services while expanding our reach through outreach programs, family violence prevention education, and community support initiatives.
